A white-skinned cucumber with black spikes 8-15cm long. The skin turns a pale yellow when mature, growing darkens the longer the cucumber is left on the vine. The flesh within is pale, with a greenish centre and translucent seeds. Salt and Pepper cucumbers have a crisp texture with a flavour.

Salt and Pepper cucumbers can be eaten fresh or pickled with herbs or spices.

Cucumbers are a warm-season crop; they will thrive when grown under full sun. The best way to sow them is in well-drained soil with compost and mature animal manure mixed trough.
Sow 2-3 seeds in a mound and thin to the strongest two directly in the garden 10mm deep and 50cm apart, with rows 100cm apart. Keep soil moist and avoid drying out.
Germination occurs in around 5-10 days at an optimum soil temperature of 18-34°C
Tropical: Spring and Autumn
Temperate: Spring and Summer.
Cool climate: Late Spring and summer.

Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
As with all seeds, they must have adequate water to keep them moist but not too wet.

Please note:
These growth notes are provided as guidance only and do not guarantee successful germination.
