Komatsuna is a typical Japanese leafy vegetable. It is often called Japanese Mustard Spinach.

Young leaves, stalks and flower shoots are used in salad and stir-fry. It is also very popular for salt pickling this vegetable in Japan.

Komatsuna is a fast growing vegetable and is ready for harvest 35 days after sowing in warm climates. Plants can be grown all year round in temperate and subtropical areas.

Prefers a well composted, well-draining soil in an open sunny position, frost resistant but drought tender.

Cold: Autumn to Spring

Sow: 3mm deep.
Sow direct and cover lightly.
Germination: 5-7 days.
Plant space: 30cm
Row space: 30cm
Maturity:  5-6 weeks

Suitable for pots.

Feed with a soluble fertiliser every two weeks for stronger plants. Pick leaves continuously to promote new growth
