Heirloom variety introduced in 1898. Very large with a hard thick orange skin and very sweet orange flesh. An uncut one can be stored in a cool, dry place for months without losing flavour or sweetness.
An especially nutritious variety, Hubbard squash has a high vitamin content and beta-carotene.

Sow: 2cm deep
Best sown direct in a sunny well drained position 3 seeds in a mound 70cm apart. Thin to the stongest two plants in each mound.
