Cosmos Sensation Radiance is a beautiful variety of Cosmos that won the "All-America Selections" award in 1948. It has large rose-coloured petals with a crimson eye and blooms during spring and summer in most Australian states and in winter in the northern states.
This showy annual belongs to the popular Sensation Series and looks stunning when planted in meadows and cottage gardens. It can also be used in beds, borders, and pollinator gardens, and it attracts butterflies, bees, and other beneficial insects.
Cosmos is an ideal choice for cut flowers since they have a vase life of 5-7 days. The best time to harvest the blooms is in the early morning when they have just opened.
These colourful bedding plants are great for adding vibrant colour to any spring or summer garden and require low maintenance. They are available in various shades and colours, and they thrive on neglect, making them a great choice for wildflower meadows or naturalised areas.
Cosmos bipinnatus is native to Mexico, Guatemala, and Costa Rica.
The best time of year to sow Cosmos seeds is mid-spring to mid-summer in cold zones.
In temperate zones, the best time is early spring to mid-summer. In tropical zones seed should be sown in the dry mid-Autumn to late winter is best.
