African Daisy makes a ideal groundcover when planted in large areas, the 50cm wide orange, salmon, and white flowers open during the day and close at night.

The flowers are borne in great profusion over the whole plant making it ideal for the border, pots, or patios.
For mass planting sow at 1.2 grams per squre metre.

This African Daisy is a flake type of seed comes from the ray flowers, what most people would call the petals, that are situated on the outside of the flower head

Adaptable to most good well-drained garden soils in a sunny position, avoid waterlogged soils.
Although originally from Africa, this drought-tolerant annual is naturalised in mant dry climetes around the world.

The best time of year to sow African Daisy seeds is mid-spring to summer as the weather warms after the winter rains.

  1. Sow on the surface and cover very lightly, do not bury the seed deeply aas the seeds need light to germinate.
  2. Best sown directly where they are to grow.
  3. If sowing in trays transplant when large enough to handle.
  4. If mass planting as a groundcover scatter seeds and rake over at 1.2 grams a square metre.

Germination: 7-14 days at a soil temperature of 18-22°C

*Please note:

  • Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
  • As with all seeds, they must have adequate water to keep them moist but not too wet.
  • These growth notes are provided as guidance only and do not guarantee successful germination.
  • The customer should do their due diligence that they are suited to their region.
