A hardy traditional Cottage garden plant renowned for its intensely fragrant flowers that occur in cluster of bright scarlet single flowers on long stems 40-60 cm high.
Ideal choice for poor soils and hot, sunny positions.
A popular border or container plant that also make great cut flowers. Trim back lightly after first flowering. Plants can be divided early spring or autumn.
Dianthus blooms in the summer for 8 to 10 weeks and will sometimes bloom again in the autumn.
Adaptable to most well-drained soils in a sunny position. Fertile soils will produce the best blooms, avoid waterlogged soils.
