Eucalyptus preissiana is a small tree with a "mallee" habit, featuring stunning buds that open into magnificent bright yellow flowers from August to November.
It usually grows up to 2-3 meters in height and width but can sometimes be smaller.

The Bell-fruited Mallee has smooth bark and large, broadly oval-shaped leaves that taper to a point, measuring 120mm in length and 50mm in width.
A bird attractant Mallee is perfect for small gardens and landscaping purposes.

Occurs naturally in the sub-region of Fitzgerald, Katanning, Recherche, Southern Jarrah Forest and Western Mallee on the south coast of Western Australia.

Prefers poor, well-drained soil in an open, sunny position. Resistant to drought and frost.

Best sown in spring or autumn in temperate climates; avoid the coldest and hottest months of the year. The optimum temperature for germination is around 18-22°C
Sow seed in a seed-raising mix just below the surface.
Water with a fine mist spray to avoid disturbance of the seed.
Germination generally occurs in around 10-28 days.

*Please note:

  • Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
  • As with all seeds, they must have adequate water to keep them moist but not too wet.
  • These growth notes are provided as guidance only and do not guarantee successful germination.
