Native to Texas and New Mexico with spikes of deep purple blue flowers covering this attractive plant. The flowers are clustered densely along upright stems which rise above the foliage. It is an outstanding plant for mass plantings, borders or containers.
Adaptable to most garden soils but prefers a well-drained average soil in a sunny position.
Tropical: Year round.
Temperate: Spring to Early Summer.
Cold: Spring to Early Summer.
Sow: 3 mm deep.
Sow direct or in trays transplant when 5 cm high, avoid excessive root disturbance.
Germination: 14-21 days.
Plant space: 25 cm
Flowering: 12 weeks
Feed with a soluble fertiliser every two weeks for stronger plants.
