A popular European variety with black skin with white flesh. Scorzonera are grown for their root similar too Salsify, Parsnip or Carrot.
This old-fashioned vegetable is a favourite with chefs for its delicious sweet taste. Also known as Black Salsify.

(Scorzonera is a genus of flowering plants in the dandelion tribe within the daisy family)

Adaptable to most garden soils in a sunny position. Avoid deformed roots by planting them in loose soil free from stones or rocks.

Best sown direct in shallow drills.
