Statice has been cultivated since the mid-17th century as a garden flower, but also as an herb which was used for the treatment of dysentery as well as other ailments. Statice produces its flowers in the brightly coloured bracts which grow atop the stiff angular stems. Ideal bedding plant and useful for cut or dried flowers.
Adaptable to most well-drained garden soils in an open sunny position.

Sow: 6 mm deep.
Sow direct or in trays transplant when 5 cm high, avoid excessive root disturbance.
