Milan Purple Top is the most popular turnip in Italy; white flat root with purple top. Excellent sweet taste and texture.

Turnips are a very hardy vegetable and easy to grow, originally from Russia and enjoyed by the ancient Greeks and Romans. The tops used in salads or cooked and the roots, which are most tender when young, can be used in soups, casseroles, mashed or steamed

Adaptable to most good garden soils, prefers an open sunny position.

Tropical: Spring to Autumn.
Temperate: Spring to Autumn.
Cold: Spring to Autumn.

Sow: 3mm deep.
For best results sow direct where they are to grow
Germination: 10-14 days.
Plant space: 20-30cm
Row space: 20-30cm
Maturity: 8-12 weeks

Feed with a soluble fertiliser every two weeks for stronger plants.
