An Heirloom variety "Purple Top White Globe" is a large turnip grwing to 10-15 cm across with a deliciously sweet and tender white root with purple tops.

Turnips are a very hardy vegetable and easy to grow, originally from Russia and enjoyed by the ancient Greeks and Romans. The tops used in salads or cooked and the roots, which are most tender when young, can be used in soups, casseroles, mashed or steamed

Adaptable to most good garden soils, prefers an open sunny position.

Sow: 3mm deep.
For best results sow direct where they are to grow
