Amaranth make an attractive addition to the flower bed and has the added bonus with leaves high in protein, vitamins and minerals.

A very vigorous plant that can be cut young and are perfect for colouring up salads or used cooked like spinach. Leaves and stems can be eaten.

Tropical: Winter to Mid-Spring.
Temperate: Late Winter to Early-Summer.
Cold: Spring

Sow: 5mm deep.
For best results sow directly into soil where they are to grow.
Germination: 7-14 days.
Plant space: 80cm
Row space: 1 metre
Maturity: 10-12 weeks

Feed with a soluble fertiliser every two weeks for stronger plants.

Adaptable to most soils in a sunny position. Drought resistant but frost tender.
