Arad Artichoke is a purple tinted artichoke with highly attractive fruit. Arad produces one purple-green oval shaped central bud with 8-12 secondary buds that average 10 cm in diameter.

Plants average 1 m tall and are compact and nearly spineless. Tender hearts are delicious especially when cooked with garlic and butter.

A newly bred variety specifically for organic growers. Arad has a short vernalization period and can be grown as an annual from seed in one season.

Prefers a deep rich soil in an open sunny position, frost resistant but drought tender.

Tropical: Autumn and Winter. 
Temperate: Spring and Autumn.
Cold: Spring.

Sow: 5mm deep.
For best results sow directly into soil where they are to grow.
Germination: 5-7 days.
Plant space: 60cm
Row space: 6cm
Maturity: 52 weeks

Feed regularly with a soluble fertiliser for stronger plants.To promote new growth harvest continuously.
